Nov 22, 2008 - Sound worked fine for me.

Nov 22, 2008 - Assuming you think children can't be held morally responsible because all their actions are due to either heredity or environment at what point do you think that a person gains free will, or some mechanism that makes it possible to evaluate their actions in moral terms? The second half of the video reminds me or Orwell's "doublethink" from 1984. The ability to hold contradictory ideas at the same time while being both aware and unaware of the contradiction.

AnarchoAnarchist Says:

Nov 22, 2008 - Why stop there? You could say that everything is determined by the spin of the cosmic pea at the moment of the big bang. And of course everything is fundamentally determined by whatever the situation was at the beginning of time. And thus the age of moral agency for a human is a purely pragmatic consideration. But this is fine because morality only exists in relation to humans, and morality will be determined by the interaction of individuals, with whatever geographical gradients.

comradepinko Says:

Nov 22, 2008 - So was there any need to specifically point out in the video that children aren't morally responsible? Why not just make the claim that moral judgments generally are uninformative? It just seemed from the video that you were trying to say that children aren't morally responsible but that adults are.

Nov 22, 2008 - I don't hold the position that good or bad even exists. So no, children cannot be good or bad and neither can adults.
