Dec 3, 2008 - Well the problem is socialism is possible in the real world. Communism is impossible

spicyMcHAGGIS9green Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - What's your problem with socialism? Contrary to popular belief, socialism is a good thing.

mkloppel Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - No theproblem is a matter of priniciple. If you expect to steal and enslave men that do not with to participate then also expect that there will be constant struggle. Capitalism avoids this mess by setting a simple standard: You want it? Go get it, we wont stand in your way" Whereas Socialisms standard is: "Do you want it? Ok let me take it from someone that has it." I dont know about you but I see a little weakness and problem there...

mkloppel Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Oh tottally, property (your body, land, money, skill ect.) should be controlled by a powerful ruling group of politicians that knows what is better for you than you do. just look at slavery pre-abolishonment era in the world, they lived in huts in a wasteland then we forced them to do what we wanted for nothing but a shack and 1 meal a day to call home, so nice of us. Who needs property when you have laws to force men to do what you want. Might makes right, therefore laws are rights. Right?

tylerblogger Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - No that's the thing. You are conditioned under the belief everything is in scarcity. Everything perpetuates scarcity otherwise they couldn't sell it. Back when bottled water was introduced most people thought it was stupid, then they capitalized on the fact it was cleaner, and from exotic regions because of that it was harder to come by, in reality IT IS THE SAME! In a true socialist government currency would be abolished because in reality there is really no scarcity of anything in this world

tylerblogger Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - You are in a world where you are taught to look at Democracy as the apex of government. Even JFK widely considered one of the greatest presidents ever said that Democracy was the best form of government.... SO FAR! People from long ago never conceived of what would happen later on. We assume we are at the point of which we have discovered all info relevant to government, while one of the facts of life is that an uninhibited social structure will change. Socialism isn't perfect,it is better

mkloppel Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Democracy? I think unrestricted democracy without a constitution that will gaurauntee my rights is wrong. And as far as apex? Governments are based on principles, not whims. Principles do not change, maybe adapt, but not change. Your principles state it is ok to take from one to give to another, that is not right and a horrible principle. Your principles state that the many can subjugate the few in 'public interest'. Apply the opposite and call it capitalism, that is perfect, it is far better.

replikant0101 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - socialism does not necessarily=more government. socialism does not imply government intervention. communism however does.

replikant0101 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - who wont stand in my way? better think about that one.

Conza88 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - International socialism is marxism. National socialism is nazism. Both are collectivist, both DO lead 2 more government. They DO imply intervention. Voluntary socialism (communes), are ok - because they are not coercive... But there ain't one socialist in 100,000 out there who realizes you can either be a coercive socialist,or voluntary. They naturally presume coercive, run other peoples lives etc, & have no problems with it. Naturally when they mean 'socialist' it ain't in the voluntary sense.

palimony Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - we were right we were right. suck on that, yes we can

aninsolent Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Instead of bailing out the highly leveraged banks and inefficient industries, United States should use the money to restructure their consumption based economy into a production based economy. US should create new industries (like solar, nanotechnology, stem cell, etc.) and revamp the existing industries (like automobiles, etc)

Turan123 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Solar, nanotechnology -- require more investment. What would a company cut first when encountering financial problem? Yes, the research sector.Stem cell --that request a serious of legal process running ahead, and the efficiency of us legal system...automobiles -- which means high cybernationalise the whole industry. Or you won't stand a chance in front of Japanese. Which means more workers lose job, which means hire more foreign engineers, Which means cut annuities, which means impossible.

bpineda182 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Dam, this guy nails interviews like broadway hookers, I wish he was our President

bpineda182 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Repulicrats, Democans, now days whats the difference? RP!!!!!

dartaddict Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Long live Socialism!

misterelsh Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Bwahahahaha you loony libertarians. Shine on you crazy diamonds. Yeah, let's end government regulation, which is the only thing holding the economy together at the moment!

nolmhash Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - If the government wants something done, it gets done. If they wanted the economy to be stable it would be stable, yet we see the exact opposite. America used to be an anarchist state, it was born on anarchy and run on anarchy. The only jobs the government had was:1) Oversee, not mandate trade.2) Regulate the delivery of mail.3) Secure the borders. That's it, but now everything is being centralized which is what the Founding Fathers most feared.

maxwest333 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - your taking focus off the value of the dollar. The libertarians are the only ones talking about the value of the dollar.in your comment, you still didn't talk about the value of the dollar. The true conservatives (the libertarians) are the only people who even attempt the subject.regulation is fine as long as it does not involve more spending and debt like the current regulation is doing. Interference in a natural free market by spending more money is creating massive inflation, no jobs

misterelsh Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - The value of the dollar doesn't matter. The fact is, Capitalism is in its death throes. Though right now all we can expect in the U.S. is some New-Deal-esque social programs, sooner or later the people will wake up and eliminate the bourgeoisie.

maxwest333 Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - the value of the dollar is everything actually.....now you know. what happens is everyone is invested in dollars. This means that everyone who has saved, and earned, and invested to achieve more dollars will be robbed when their dollars are worth less, and less until they are worthless

MainTightSqueeze Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Ignorance. Pure ignorance. The US Dollar is virtually ubiquitous; it is fucking everywhere, everyone has it, everyone depends on it. If we let socialistic principles govern a Capitalistic market then as Ron Paul said, we will ensure that the dollar loses value. Hence, the people are unable to overthrow. The first two sentences of your post are mutually exclusive. Capitalism wholly relies on the value of the dollar.

MainTightSqueeze Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - Exactly. If the government absolutely must socialize, then I say we stop socializing stagnant institutions and start giving absurd amounts of money to the technology and research companies. Fuck the Fed and certainly fuck the automobile companies, they support the system by stifling advancement to keep the populous in an oil frenzy.

DANxCHORIN Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - As a class, not as individuals.But I do hope so.

DANxCHORIN Says:

Dec 3, 2008 - And Lenin was an asshole.
