Here is a video showing how I record with my drums to get the sound that I get.Sorry for all the red flashes, my computer sucks sometimes. Also, sorry for the totally boring reading. I just read straight from the little script I made, so it was pretty pathetic. :P

Dec 4, 2008 - Hey John, long time no talk. Congrats on the Metallica playlist. I think I'm pretty certain I know how you do it, but I wouldn't mind checking out the video to make sure it's what I am thinking. I have never had much of a problem syncing the video and audio together, especially since I normally just let Shane worry with it. O:) Hope life is treating you well!

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Right, it's really great. I have tried to use DKFH, but I still couldn't get it to work. Id on't know. Maybe it's just a ID10T error.

Dec 4, 2008 - Thanks for that! But i am in MetallicaTV favorites on front page so far! I got like over 200 subs in a couple of day and the views and comments are overwelming! Do you know how they pick who goes on there channel? I still cant believe they picked me out of millions of vids out there! Anyways glad to be next to scbene, t0ko and titovincenzo my friends and fellow players!

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Ah, for some reason I thought you were on the playlist. Congrats being on the front page! I'm sure that gets you even more views. Wow! You're really getting up there in the subs! Seems like everyone I know is about to pass me up. I think I need to start cranking out some more videos faster. ;)

Dec 4, 2008 - im gunna guess that drum kit cost over 1000 dollars

wildbill1240 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - what screen recording program did you use? I can't seem to find a good one.

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I used Adobe Captivate. Adobe Captivate only exports to SWF though, so I then had to convert from SWF to AVI. It did a good job though for the most part.

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - It was 1500.

wildbill1240 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - thanks Eric, it definitely did a good job. I could see every detail.

Dec 4, 2008 - Nice of you to help out your fellow drummer fans with this instruction vid. Did you really say your kit has taken quite a beating? LOL

SirCampAlot Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Nice, but I'm really lazy so I just use my cam on my computer :P. It works but I am going to stop being so lazy and actually record some stuff like this. Thanks for the video man.

Dec 4, 2008 - Hey thanks a lot for answering my question.I have one more question.....how do you export the project to an mp3 or wave file if its all in midi. Thanks again

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Are you using Sonar?

deathmetaldancer Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Yeah Sonar 7. Im using the trial version of addictive drums. Im trying out the step sequencer and I want to hear what addictive drums sounds like. I dont have a midi output device yet so im wondering if there is a way that you can export the cakewalk project to an mp3 or wave file so I can hear what Im composing with the step sequencer. You seem like an intelligant guy lol Im sure you have a solution

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - It's kind of confusing so I will try my best to explain it by text. :) You should have at least two tracks, one midi track and one audio track. In Sonar, each track has a number to distinguish them apart. If you click on the number, it should select everything on that track. Click on the number for the midi track so it selects everything in your midi, then hold control and click the number for your audio track. Then go and try to Export it to a sound file. Let me know if that helps. :P

deathmetaldancer Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Hey man I did exactly what you said and for some reason it only exports the audio from the project.

EricSes Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear. You should have an audio track for your project. Then you should have an audio track that deals directly with your Midi, in which the input is the Addictive Drums, and the Output is whatever your soundcard is. Make sure the audio track that is the one that pertains to the Midi is select, with the midi track. When you do it, even though you have nothing in the Audio Track, it should still be highlighted for as long as the Midi Track goes on for.
