It's said that there are three pillars that are policy areas of the European Community. Well, there is a Fourth Pillar - and that is the American policy pillar. The Fourth Pillar policy area is implemented by both Community institutions and Member States. In other words, Fourth Pillar policies are a shared (in)competence, LOL!Does Russia, South Ossetia, or any other country or nation-state have access to European institutions like Poland, Britain or Georgia. Well, the Fourth Pillar is the only pillar where the Community seems to throw out its policies, institutions and its stated values. Human rights, European values, even the European Security Strategy, are second to "American interests" and what "America wants, America gets" in Europe's Fourth Pillar - and some European leaders are all too willing to trade Europe and even the interests of their own nations to "America's interests in Europe!"PERSONAL INSULTS WILL BE DELEATED AND THE AUTHOR BANNED!

Dec 3, 2008 - Yes, I know, and this is actually meant to be sarcastic. No, I don't think Russia is totally innocent, but it is Russia that is being beaten up here - and there appears to be NO concern about who actually started the conflict, the human rights of the S. Ossetians - and not working with all parties.Also- there is a danger that certain former Soviet nations are abusing this crisis to get revenge against Russia for things it did when it was the Soviet Union. This is not what the Community is for!

Dec 3, 2008 - u raise very good points here !however as you can see, very few ppl bother to pay attention to them: only 157 viewers in 1 month, and only 3 comments.especially I like "Justly and Fairly"in interview with ARD (german news agency) Putin said: 'it things go on like this - very soon we'll have to talk ONLY with Washington about European affairs'perhaps the point has started to get through.

Dec 3, 2008 - Europes position on Russias actions in South Ossetia is not as hardline as the Americans would want.I agree we shouldnt just blame russia for everything like the Americans want us to do but Russia is not an innocent party in this conflict and their actions have been far from responsible.
