Name: Mario Gonzalo Godoy Aguirre: December 11, 1954.Mario Godoy Aguirre's excelence in Latin American musical scholarship, specially Ecuadorian musical culture and history. Mario Godoy is a member of the Board of Directors of the Dictionary of Spanish and Latin American Music, and he has worked with the dictionary since April 1990 as an author and editorial advisor. In 1996 he served as Assistant Secretary of Culture and Chief of the Department of Artistic education of the National Direction of Culture and Chief of Cultural Promotion of the Secretariat of Culture.Mario Godoy served as President of the Musical Division of the House of Ecuadorian Culture, "Benjamin Carrion", from 1984 to 1989. In 1994, he represented Ecuador at Spanish and Latin American Counsel's Constituent Assembly of Music in Madrid, Spain. In 1995, Mario Godoy represented Ecuador at Meeting of Directors of Information and Musical Documentation Centers in Bogota, Colombia.He has co-authored the definitive history of Latin American Music as well written six history music books, over 200 biographies of distinguished Latin American composers and many original songs.
